Balmain

Balmain: starting with the 2019 haute couture the white garment with a high shoulder asymmetrical opposite off the shoulder large pleated shoulder sleeves which shows two contrasting sides related to my project; strength and destruction: the falling shoulder sleeve shows life as being trafficked and the other side empowering and being stronger which I like about this piece. Same with the multi coloured garment with a huge volume shoulder.

The latest collection by Olivier Rousteing Fall 2019: sharp, strong,powerful, present a strong women; form shines plack plastic, transparent plastic to sharp spikes gives an impression of women empowering, ready to fight and destroy anyone or envy thing that comes in their way. Form this collection I like the use of spikes studs shined black plastic material (quilted skirts) to the use of recycled denim which is formed into rough thready texture.

Burberry

Burbeyy: Fall 2019 by Riccardo Tisci, is a eye catching collection specially the trench coasts, can say that Burberry does the best trench coats; the reason I included trench coat in my research is because a trench oak can change the who look of the outfit and the way the person presents themselves. You may have seen in movies or in real life the look you get when a police or a detective wears a trench coat it shows powers, strength and reflects fear. From the above images from the collection I like the middle image a fusion of trench coat into the dress with its army green colour gives it a world war look with Morden touch which stands out for me.

Masion Margiela: fall 2018 couture releasing to the my project this is a great example to present the ideas of trafficking showing the dark side off it. The image on the right Come the collection is sampling as the dress is no a full dress it it cut , thorn apart which creates a sense of a female being abused and trafficked.

Half jacket toil

making and refining of the half jacket toile:

The first half jacket toile; after the previous drape for the jacket replicating the drape in the toile was pretty difficult as the fabric was not draping the was it did in the precious drape , but after trial and tweaking final managed to get the shape. The other problem with the toile was the sleeve not creating and being unable to hot the volume, as the problem I think was the fabric was not doubled up, as in the previous drape the fabric was double folded therefore managed to hold volume.

On the other hand the final material to be used is the black plastic material which will not hesitate to hold volume and will work perfectly, as the material is very thick.

Making decision on the skit colour pallets.

This me testing and matching the best colour combination for the skirt. As the previous colour pallet was out of the range.

Form the samples above the first three images with different colour postbags all of them look attractive in their own way; as each bags colour gives you different feel. As after experimenting with the sample the blue bag drifts of the design and the colour pallet, the red is to bright and attracts attention from rest of the colour pallet and finally the the grey bag is bit dull but flows with the design colour pallet.

Moving on to the second row are the same images but with a denim sample on the black translucent textured material. The best one is the one with the blue post bag as the denim sample compliments the blue bag. Whereas the other two coloured the red contrasts with the denim and with the grey post bag the denim stands out more.

The last row is sample by deductions of the translunt material as the denim material is the skirt.

The final colour palette choice for the skirt will be sample 3 with or with out the denim kangaroo pocket which I need to decide on

In this sample I have change the translucent black textured fabric which the grey and Red Cross strip fabric; personally it does no display strength and empowering as it’s more subtle showing fear, therefor will not be using this colour for the skirt.

Sports: Women in sport

  • The first appearance made by women in the Olympics was in Paris 1900s.
  • 22 women’s competed in tennis, sailing,croquet, Equestrain and golf.
  • IOC- Congress in Paris’s 1914 a women’s medal have formally the same weight as men’s in the official men’s table.
  • Netball was developed out of basketball and softball out of baseball due to concern on women’s physical strength and stamina. This discouraged females to join in fore phicially intense sport.

Susan B. Anthony.

Susan B. Anthony is a women rights activist, she played important role in the women’s suffrage women which gained strength in 1840s.

The above image is of Edith cumming a golfer who on 25 August 1924 was the first women athlete to appear on the cover of the times magazine, which is said to be a major step in women althlete history.

Muslim women in sport:

It is said that Muslim women’s should be preserved with Their identity and coustom. During my previous research on type of hijabs elaborated that they wear it to cover them self form unretlaed men’s and to maintain moodesty. It is believed that women were not allowed in participating in. Sport that required short cloths and masculine power.

In countries such as India the mindset has changed and number of world class women as Sania Mirza for tennis have reached their destination to pursue their career in sport. This has also encouraged women to take a step forward in sport but as there are still presents af issues that doesn’t not allow some women to sports and also due to prejudice set up by society.

‘Muslim women have used sports as a means to empowerment, working towards health and wellbeing, women’s rights, and education.’

As empowering of women, I thought to include a touch of sport to my project. They are may sports, harmless and harmful, safe and dangerous. As for athletes in all categories of sport go third bad times and pain which puts them down and also somthimes ends their carriers; but it not that easy to give up, and you never giver up athletes in all sports come back stronger and so the audience what they are are capable of.

Dangerous sport:

Relating to my project it’s sample women’s , girls and men’s go through trafficking and it very painful, heart breaking and hard to forget the past. But there are people who stand for themselves and the future of others, and they come back stronger without fear and show what they are cable of and the power they have.

To start with I have looked at ‘sports that uses protective gear’ and the sports or are: American football, baseball, cricket, fencing, hockey,ice hockey, rugby, volleyball and under water hockey; I know there are may more dangerous sports out her that use protective equipment and some which do not. Before starting the research the sports that stood out for me was cricket and American foot; mostly American football which I wanted to include in my project and it was American football, all sports are tough which needs a lot of strength and stamina but why have I chose American football? Because it can be uses to show strength and empowering; for me american football is the dangerous sport and the players stand strong, tall andfearless with the kits look even more strong, the way they tackle their opponent and how they protect their team to gain the score is amazing.

A glims of the sports in the design can be related to strength, power and empowering of human trafficking victims; fighting back for justice.

American football shoulder pads

Teh image on the left is a morde shoulder pad kit use. I’m current American football which is made of plastic and synthetic material whereas on the other hand the image on the right is an early 1890s shoulder pads which are no where near to the Morden generation pads. It is also intresting to see how the protective gear has developed throughout the years; as u see in the images the dual shoulder pads are huge in size which shows strength and power; including this element on to the garment will exhibit a strength and enpowerment.

“During the First World War, the design of the trench coat was modified to include shoulder straps and D-rings. The shoulder straps were for the attachment of epaulettes or other rank insignia; There is a popular myth that the D-ring was for the attachment of hand grenades.”

Sampling drapes

Draping the postbag; I really like the top falling of/ hanging form the chest drape as it shows the idea of being sexually abuses or can be realest Ed to other form of trafficking. As a garment this can be used by having a layer of shirt in the back ground overplayed with the drape to present the idea of destroying a soul.

Following the the skirt I also draped the material to form different style half jacket, the most liked is the first drape in gray bag the half shoulder huge sleeve and the second last drape which is like a side attached sleeve similar to Balmain 2019 couture collection which Amazing.

Draping and toile of the half jacket in the postbag material; being honest I am not a fan of his material, to have it as a jacket as the material is a bit stiff and also does not hold volume; as it is was not suitable to hand sow either as the material is two delicate and a slight cut and shrewd the material.
